Smith, William Murray MD
79, of Phoenix, AZ passed into eternal life on January 1, 2013. Born July 1, 1933 in Washington, D.C., to the late Clifford Vaughn Smith and Laura Jean Murray Smith. William was educated at the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science and later earned a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Zurich (Switzerland). William's life took him on many journeys, meeting the love of his life of 47 years, Eleonore while living in Switzerland. He furthered his medical training in New Rochelle, NY, specializing in Anesthesia. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he dedicated over 30 years of military service, retiring as a Colonel in the United States Air Force. William was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Eleonore, son Clifford Smith (Denise), daughter Natalie Smith, four grandchildren and brother Clifford Vaughn Smith, Jr. William was a physician of medicine for over 40 years with a true gift and passion for the health and well being of his patients and colleagues. William was a committed member of his parish, sharing his love for Christ with all those whom he encountered. William was an incredibly intelligent man who loved reading, especially military history and he loved to tell stores of his time in Europe. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed. Memorial Services honoring his life will be held at 4:00 PM on the 9th
of January at St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church, 6715 North Mockingbird Lane, Paradise Valley. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.

What a wonderful gift Dr. Bill was to all of us. We were Blessed to know him thru Saint Barnabas and will miss him.
