Hoye, Richard
It is with our deepest sadness that we share the peaceful passing of our dad, Pop-o, who for 85 years quietly touched the lives of many including his sons Rick (Laura), and Dennis (Susan), his grandchildren Brian, Kara and Leslie and the extended family of his current wife Nancy and her children. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Margaret Hoye. A mentor to many, the most memorable moments with Pop-o were the numerous times we would run into people who came up to him and thanked him for giving them the opportunity to change their lives because of an encounter with him as a member of the South Euclid, Ohio, Police Department. Dad shared a special relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary, saying a rosary every day since he was 9 years old. He has been welcomed with open arms by Her and her Son, Jesus. In lieu of flowers, please make donates to the 100 Club of Arizona in honor of our dad's 25 yrs of service as a police officer. Services will be Friday April 4 at 10:00 am at St. George's Parish, 300 E 16th Ave, Apache Junction, AZ.

Dear Hoye Family,
As a retired police officer from the South Euclid Police Department I can only say Rich was the best older police officer I ever worked with.
When I started in l968, he was the first officer I rode with and little did I know that he was also the best. Rich had a way with people and he could calm down the roughest incident with ease. He once told me he considered him self a "Plodder" but in my eyes he was one of the the best officers a young officer could have trained with. Rich was one of a kind. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

My prayers go out to your family. Your dad was a great guy. He was my training officer back in 78 & 79. He always smoked that pipe. Always talked to me about history of South Euclid. I will never forget him. I worked at SEPD from 78 to 2009 when I retired.

Nancy, Rick and Dennis,
Dick's passing brings back many memories for me. We shared the same street (Piermont) and church (St. Margaret Mary) and employer (city of South Euclid). A very good man.
