Shepard, Barry Dean
The world is an emptier place without Barry Shepard. He was a man of great dignity; compassionate, kind, loving and honest. Our lives will never be the same without him.
Barry was a devoted husband to Alexandra for 22 years, and an amazing father to two beautiful children, Morgan and Cole.
Both a talented artist and a gifted athlete, Barry was ranked the number one high jumper in the world, and in 1970 earned a place on the U.S. track-and-field team.
For over 40 years, his creativity and vision led SHR Branding to what it is today, one of the premier branding agencies in the country.
Barry was passionate about photography, capturing some of the most beautiful images of creatures large and small. Through his photographs and the values he instilled in his children, Barry will live on forever.
Heaven gained a beautiful angel on November 12, 2012, but left a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A private celebration of life has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phoenix Zoo or the American Cancer Society.

OMG Barry, I´m so saded to hear of your passing. You were such a good friend in Art School. We took almost all our art classes together and had we some good times. I remember the time I was an Art director for a bank and you came to visit me and to my surprise, you asked me to come work with in at your Tempe studio. So many times as the years went by, I wish I had. I´m so proud of all the good you have accomplished. My deepest sympathy to your wife and girls and I wish them well. God Bless you all and may you rest in peace.

My thoughts, prayers ,and sympathy extend to Barry´s family, even though I just learned of his passing.I was also a high jumper and competed against Barry in high school, but I was just the best in my school while Barry was a county and state champ and already destined for greatness. We briefly were teammates in an AAU track club and rode up and down the road for one summer and although his skills were far superior to mine, he was always gracious during practice and usually began jumping at heights way above where I finished but never any hint of an attitude. One of his us teammates told me " someday he´ll jump 7 feet .and he did. He introduced me to his girlfriend and women just seemed to cluster around him . In my high school league several state champs emerged along with a future Heisman runner up, NFL star and Super Bowl competitor. I was lucky to rub shoulders at 17 with future stars like Barry.I remember him with fondness and my heart is filled with grief. A class act and one of the good guys one meets along the way.I hope he didn´t suffer and he´s in a better place.God Bless

I met Barry thru my membership in Sigma Nu fraternity at ASu in the early 70's. He was a great athelete, great fraternal leader and a 'brother' who always had time to listen if you were having problems. His loss will be felt by many.

I met Barry when I was a Sigma Nu Pledge in 1969. He was a truly unique person that I admired for his athletic ability, his creativity, and most of all his genuiness. I know he will be missed by his family, co-workers and friends.
I'll look forward to meeting him in the Chapter Eternal.

Barry, I can't wrap my mind around it: that your vibrancy, genius and zest for life were snuffed out in such an unthinkable and sudden way. I have been blessed to work with a few very exceptional people. You are a member of that rare league. My heart and prayers go out to your family, Will and all the people at SHR.

Barry, the hole in our hearts is enormous. Thank you for being the amazing mentor you were to so many of us, not to mention the wonderful husband and father you were. You will be sorely missed, and I'm sure all the other angels in Heaven had to put on their sunglasses with the blinding light of its newest addition. Our hearts and prayers go out to Alex, Morgan and Cole. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I only met Barry a few weeks ago, having become a client of his firm. Barry was so warm and easy to be with that we quickly formed a bond. I will miss the opportunity to know him better, and my thoughts go out to his family.
