William Robbins Obituary

William Mitchell Robbins passed away at his home in Tempe. AZ on May 27, 2006. He is survived by his wife Thelma and children Bill, Suzanne and Don, and three grandchildren, Clayton, Holly and DJ. "Sweet Pea" as he was called by friends and family in Virginia, graduated from New Hope High School, served in the Navy during WWI and afterwards settled in Arizona to work in construction. All over the state, many people today drive over bridges and roads that were built under his supervision. One state road inspector said Bill was the "best concrete man in the state" because of his reputation for being able to deliver quality work while operating under tight deadlines and difficult conditions. Bill loved to fish and hunt which became family affairs after his children and grandchildren were born. He shared his love and respect for the outdoors as a gift to his family. To everyone he knew he gave the gift of humor and personal integrity, both of which were exemplified by the way he lived his life. Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2nd, at Messinger Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Banner Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta Blvd, Gilbert, AZ 85233.
