Anita Samora

Samora, Anita Lozano
20 April 1925 to 27 June 2013. Mom quietly passed away but what an active and rich life. Her rich soft voice and attractive and smart appearance made her a favorite local singer and was known as La Rancharita de Tempe. Her active participation in the creation of the first all-Spanish radio station is an example of her social awareness and determination. When mom sang "Solamente Una Ves" or "Bésame Mucho" I would quietly listen and knew that everything was okay. Her indomitable spirit taught my two sisters (Nancy and Mary Ann) and I too stand tall. Being of Mexican heritage, she made sure that we were treated as equals in a time when our heritage was generally considered to be less than equal. One time she said to me, "Tony, You're a Samora and you never get on your knees for anyone!" Mom, thank you for all the good things you taught me and my sisters. Now, you can take a break. We love you and may God bless you. Memorial service: Saturday the 3rd of August, 2:00 PM at 6329 W. Magnolia, Phoenix, AZ. For information please call 602-518-4266 or
