Shebek, Barbara Louise
88, of Scottsdale passed away peacefully on October 10, 2012. Barbara was born July 17, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. After graduating high school she attended Stephens College and Northwestern University. Barbara then moved to Arizona where she began working in the Phoenix AM radio market. Her career choice soon turned to the fashion industry. Barbara worked for a handful of high fashion stores in Scottsdale and for a period of time owned her own modeling agency. As a fashion coordinator and commentator her fashion shows at Mountain Shadows and other venues were always first class events. Barbara loved swimming, college football, the Phoenix Open and decorating for the holidays. She also made the best cheesecake. She donated her time to many charities. Among them were the March of Dimes, the Arizona Humane Society and the Phoenix Zoo. Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will not be forgotten. She is survived by her sons, Bernard, James and Michael, her daughter Barbara (Michael) Steward and eight grandchildren.
