Mr. Barry John Poupore, of Scottsdale, passed away on June 20, 2014. Barry was born on February 3, 1955 in Malone, NY to the late Bernard "Pop" Poupore and Norma Carey Poupore. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy Kelly Poupore, sons Brian Mack, Jack Bernard and Luke Matthew Poupore and three brothers, Kevin, Casey & Michael Poupore. Barry graduated from St. Joseph's Ursuline Academy High School in 1973, from the University of Notre Dame in 1977 (BBA Finance) and Arizona State University in 1991(MBA Marketing). He grew up in a family owned motel and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality business. After moving to Arizona, Barry procured a position at the Scottsdale Conference Resort and prospered with that organization in a variety of management, sales and marketing roles for 15 years. He made lifelong friends with his work associates and clients. Barry met Kathy, daughter of Clifford & Kathleen Kelly, at the Scottsdale Conference Resort and they were married in 1989. Kathy graduated from ASU and is a Sun Devil through and through. After meeting Barry, she also rooted for the Fighting Irish! Kathy is the great granddaughter of baseball legend and Hall of Famer, Connie Mack. In 1993 Barry, Kathy and newly born Brian moved to Charleston, SC. Barry had accepted the position of Managing Director of the Club and Resort at Seabrook Island. For 10 years, Barry developed and led a great team made up of his best friends and family, including his brother Michael and sister-in-law Tiffany. This team established Seabrook Island as one of the premier private clubs, vacation resorts and conference centers in the Southeast. In 2003, Barry and his family returned to Scottsdale and he became the General Manager of Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree. He enjoyed that position, the club and its members for many years. Barry loved sports including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and running. He started playing golf at age 10 and it quickly became his lifelong sports passion. He loved the game itself and playing with family, friends and clients. He teamed up with his Dad for over 30 years at the annual Malone Member Guest Golf Tournament and was a Lifetime Member at the Malone Golf Club. Barry was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, friend and Catholic. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1, 5-8pm, Rosary at 7pm at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. A service to celebrate Barry's life will be held Wednesday, July 2, 10:00am, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 11300 N. 64th Street, Scottsdale.
