Swanson, Beatrice L.
Passed away peacefully at age 89, on March 14, 2014. Bea was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Bea was born in Flint, Michigan on August 7th, 1924 to Clyde and Bessie (Smith) Lane. She was younger sister to (Howard) Norman, and big sister to Irene and Dorothy. The family moved to Illinois, where Bea graduated from Neoga High School in 1942. In 1944, she married Robert Swanson, the boy next door. His military career took them around the country, from Connecticut to Hawaii, raising a family of four along the way. In 1962 the family moved to Scottsdale. Her early training with Western Union during World War II, and various office jobs along the way resulted in her working at the Robert Karr Insurance Agency here in town. Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob), son Eric, daughters Linda (MacAdam) Swanson, and Diane (Shultz). She is survived by her son, Joel (wife Mary Martha) Swanson & grandson Christopher Swanson. Bea is also survived by her grandsons, David (wife Katherine) MacAdam, and Robert (Rob) MacAdam. She is great-grandmother to Ashley, Joshua, and Bethany MacAdam. Bea is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, March 19th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3110 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Contributions may be made to
