Beth Beaudry Jessen, of Tempe, Arizona went peacefully home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013. She was born Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1919 in Madison, SD to Walter and Mary Marquart, the youngest of five children. Following graduation from Madison High School and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN, she was married to A.H. Beaudry in Chicago on June 16, 1940, becoming an "ArmyWife" when the USA entered WWII. She worked as a secretary for the FCC in Washington D.C. while her husband was stationed at Ft.Belvoir, Virginia prior to deporting overseas for duty in Europe. After the war they lived at posts in Virginia, Louisiana, Pureto Rico, Illinois, Japan, Utah, Korea and Texas, where Colonel Beaudry retired in 1963 at Ft Bliss. The family then moved to Tempe where her husband served as Construction and Operations Supt. for the City of Tempe until ill health forced his retirement. He died in 1978. With the move to Tempe, Beth returned to the work force first as Admin Assistant to the Tempe Public Works Director and then as Administrative Secretary to Coach Frank Kush and assistant coaches at Arizona State University for several years. She was married in 1986 to Rev. Bill Gotthardt - spending most of their time traveling and attending Elderhostels. He died in 1990. In August 1991 she married Edward O'C Jessen and instantly became "Momma and Grandma" to a very large family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ann Beaudry, brothers Edward and Les Marquart, and sisters Eva Sena and Beverly McFall Cole. She is survived by her three children: Richard Beaudry and wife Joyce of Pagosa Springs, CO, Michele Beaudry of Chandler, AZ and Peter Beaudry and wife Val of Kennewick, WA. as well as 9 stepchildren, 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Arizona family members include stepchildren: Jeanne (Mrs Phil) Williams of Tempe, and Judy (Mrs Herman) Dominguez of Gold Canyon and their families. Celebration of Life will be held at Arizona Community Church, 9325 South Rural Road, Tempe, AZ at 1pm on Tuesday, February 12th 2013. Internment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico.
