Carl Hocott Rambo

Rambo, Carl Hocott
was born April 6, 1927, in Combes, Texas. He died April 27, 2013, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Carl was a graduate of Baylor University (BA), University of Texas (MEd), and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). An ordained minister in both the Southern and American Baptist denominations, he pastored churches in Texas, Phoenix, and Iowa. He taught Greek and New Testament at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri, and served as Superintendent of Hawaii Baptist Academy in Honolulu. He taught high school in both Texas and Arizona. He was also recently named a Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church Scottsdale. Additionally, at one time he was an owner and manager of the Arizona School of Real Estate, in Scottsdale. Carl, at his core, was an educator, whether in the areas of public education, Christian service or Real Estate. Throughout his life, he was a faithful servant of his Lord God, Jesus Christ, whom he loved. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorene Hyde Rambo; one sister, Betty Tandy, of Dallas, Texas; two children, Mark (Kathleen) Rambo and Rebecca Daughtry, both of Olympia, Washington; five grandchildren, Cherity (Rob) Parish, James Ballard, Nicole (Rob) Stanton, Christina Semken and Dameon Ballard; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition he is survived by a niece, Donna Willette, of Boulder, Colorado, and her children, Sarah and Michael. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be Saturday, May 4th, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Scottsdale, 7025 E. Osborn Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Chaneni House c/o First Baptist Church Scottsdale or to David and Joyce Reed, c/o International Ministries, Valley Forge, PA.
