Carol Calhoun Wermuth, 76 years old, passed away peaceably in her home on September 5, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. Carol was Born on June 11, 1937, in Mesa, Arizona. She was a 1955 graduate of Mesa High and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters degree, with Honors, from Arizona State University. She taught second and third grades at Emerson Elementary in Mesa for over 20 years, blessing and changing the lives of her students which were in the hundreds. She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Wermuth; sons: Kenneth (Minyon) Smith, Kevin (Candi) Smith and Gregory (Mary) Smith; step-children: Wendy (Bill) Udall, Danny (Lisa) Wermuth, Holly (C.K.) Sato and Heather Wermuth, and her brother, Wayne (Kay) Calhoun. Carol was predeceased by her parents, C.A. and Mildred Calhoun; her son, Michael Bradley Smith; step-son David Wermuth; her brothers: Donald Calhoun and Norman Calhoun and sister, Louise Matlock. Carol was loved and cherished by all who knew her, especially her grand children and great-grandchildren, who called her "Grandma Honey" because she was so sweet. Her presence will be missed by all. Services for Carol will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 830 East Lehi Road, Mesa 85203, with a viewing one hour prior at 9:00 AM.
