Ray, Carolyn Majors
Carolyn Majors Ray, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away Tues. Oct. 16, 2012. She was born Aug. 1, 1927 to Leslie and Dorothy Majors. Carolyn graduated Wilson Teachers College in Washington, DC, and earned her Masters degree in Education at the University of Maryland. She was a master teacher, earning many awards, and was National Elementary Science teacher of the year. She also directed and produced 30 videos for public television station WETA, to help train elementary school science teachers. Carolyn retired in 1982, as an elementary school principal. Carolyn and her husband, Walt traveled all over the world, at times experiencing the beauty and thrill of skiing, one of their favorite pastimes together. In her passing, Carolyn has joined her loving parents and her only son Vaughn Zack. Her husband, Walt Ray; her brother Gary Majors; her daughter Stacy Conant and son-in-law Todd; her grandchildren Christina, Angela, Laura, Anthony and Jeanna; and her great grandchildren, Weston and Raelynn, survive her. Services and burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, 1 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
