April 30, 1936 - December 8, 2013. Col. (Ret.) Charles Custis Moses was born on April 30, 1936, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Col. (Ret.) Merillat and Grace Moses (deceased). Charlie grew up in a military family who in 1946 moved to Frankfurt, Germany. It was during that stay he met Sandra Jean Cromwell who unbeknownst to both of them would later become his wife. This year in June they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary! He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1957 and started his career in the U.S. Army. He served his first 2 years in the 101st Airborne Division. The remainder of his career was spent in the Ordnance Corps. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 and spent the remainder of his career in the private industry. He officially retired in 1996, and he and Sandy returned to Scottsdale, Arizona where he enjoyed tending his rose garden and playing poker at the local casinos. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved family. He is survived by his brothers, Edward and John, his beloved wife, Sandy, his son, Scot Moses, (Tara), his two daughters Lori Carson (Kevin), and Leslie Buchanan/Davis (Steve), his 9 grandchildren Courtney (Sarah), Alex, Sean, Tamara, Parker, Lauren, Gabrielle, Kelsey, and Katie, and his 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mariyah, Sydney, and Ivan. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. A memorial to celebrate Charlie's life will be held at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 11735 N. Scottsdale Rd., on Jan. 3, 2014 at 10 am. Friends and Family are welcome.
