Charles Louis Beall

Beall, Charles Louis
of Gilbert, AZ passed away on April 10, 2013. Charles was born in Mesa, Arizona on April 3, 1927 and was the son of Robert E. and Ida H. (Groehler) Beall. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret E. Ladlow, and brothers Robert E. Beall Jr. and George F. Beall, and a grandson Shane Louis Martin. He is survived by a sister Dorothy B. (Beall) James, his wife Peggy Joe (Bain) Beall, his sons Charles Beall, Jim Beall and daughters Tana Martin and Chula Eslamieh. Grandchildren are Taylor Beall, Jordan Beall, Kasey Beall, Becca (Beall) Tate, Jim Paul Beall, Turner Beall, Sammi Jo (Ellsworth) Ervien, Cody Martin, Makenna Martin, and Nichol Sheffield. Great-grandchildren are Shealynn Attar, Tierney Sheffield, Zarin Ervien, Zadie Ervien, and Micklin Ervien. Charles was an alumnus of Mesa High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was the last quarterback of the Arizona State College Bulldogs and the first Quarterback and member of the original 1947 Arizona State University Sun Devils. Along with playing football, Charles also captained the first Arizona State University basketball team to participate in the NAIA Mens' Basketball National Tournament in 1948. He obtained a Masters in Physical Education. His last official appearance with ASU was at the 2010 Alumni Legends Ceremony. He was an inaugural inductee to the Mesa Sports Hall of Fame, a cattle rancher in New Mexico, on the Board of Directors of the American Junior Rodeo Association (AJRA), a Mason and a Veteran of WWII. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to in the memory of Charles Louis Beall. , 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
