Charlie C. Johnson, 89, died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 1, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Charlie was a retired Army sergeant, serving for 23 years. He served in World War Two and at numerous posts around the world. He retired to Phoenix about 50 years ago, where he was an active member of the El Zaribah lodge, the Elks and was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Phoenix. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and past president of the El Zaribah Oriental Band. Charlie was born June 8, 1923 in Texarkana, Texas, and grew up near Shreveport, La. He was one of seven children of Sally Johnson, who preceded him in death, along with his six brothers and sisters. He and Millie Stravopolus were married in 1952 in Kokomo, Ind. His wife preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by one daughter, Liz and husband Tom Miller, Lake Havasu City, Arizona; one son, Steven and wife Kim Johnson, Tacoma, Wash.; two granddaughters, Lisa Sumner and Rebecca Barrett; and two great-granddaughters, Zoey & Sydney May. The visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, from 11 to noon, at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Rd., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Charlie's name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O.
