Dallas Edward Ortman was born May 24, 1924 to Glen and Kathryn Ortman in Alliance, Nebraska. Dallas passed away May 15, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. Dallas will be greatly missed by his family, extended family, and friends. Dallas was married to Georgene Isabelle (Mc Donald) Ortman on July 3, 1943. Georgene preceded Dallas in death in May 2003. He is survived by his children Monty (and Anne) Ortman, Shegay (and Steve) Vanderpool, Tanya Ortman; six grandchildren: Stephanie (and John) Brigowatz, Mark (and Ashley) Ortman Jr., Shaye (and Lucas) Villard, Shelby (and Ria) Vanderpool, Scott Vandermate, and Tara (and James) Poovey. Dallas was also proud of his eleven great grandchildren: JJ, Zach, and Megan Brigowatz, Samuel, Addison, Lilyanna, and Bennett Ortman, Andrew and Isabelle Villard, Rory Vanderpool, and Cody Vandermate. Dallas was looking forward to meeting two more great grandchildren due to arrive this summer. Dallas was blessed by having a very close extended family of two nieces: Sandy (and Ron) Lane, and Joni (and Bill) Kinnerup and their families. Dallas spent the last several years of his life at Gayle's Manor East under the loving care of Joni (Powell) Kinnerup and her staff. Dallas was a long time resident of Phoenix arriving in the early 1960's. Prior to this time Dallas proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He shared with family and friends in the founding and operation of the Wigwam, Totem, Malcolm's, and Webb's Department Stores in Washington, Hawaii, Arizona, and California. Dallas was also a committed churchman serving Jesus Christ. He loved his church family and attended the former Biltmore Church of the Nazarene, presently Renovation Church. There will be a visitation with family and friends at Hansen's Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 East Bell Road, Phoenix, on Friday, May 24th, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. There will be a service celebrating Dallas' faith and life at Renovation Church, 5604 North 24th Street, Phoenix, on Saturday, May 25th, at 11:00 a.m. The family encourages memorial gifts to be sent to Renovation Church.
