82, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away peacefully on May 21,2013, surrounded by his loving family. Dan was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and a devoted family man. He is survived by his children; Linda (William) Vogel, Daniel J. Garvey Jr., Eugene (Victoria) Garvey, Amy K. (Kevin) Niessner, brother of Kathleen M. Garvey and Thomas E. (Yulian) Garvey. He was "POPS" to his seven grandchildren; Jennifer, William, Shannon, Jakob, Nicklaus, Spencer and Logan, who were his pride and joy, as well as a loving companion to Barbara Nimlo. Dan was born August 6, 1930, to Eugene and Marie Garvey in Altoona, PA. Dan lived in Buffalo, NY for 25 years before his love of the old west brought he and his family to Scottsdale, AZ. Dan proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a bus driver for Scottsdale School District, where his love for children made going to work every day a joy. Dan will be greatly missed by his many friends at OLPH, where he was an active member for over 30 years. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm, Tuesday, May 28th, 2013, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., in Scottsdale. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7655 E. Main St., in Scottsdale. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2:00pm, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dan's honor to the Arizona Humane Society, www.azhuman.org or , 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
