Bayless, Dee Rae
82, of Glendale, returned to her heavenly Father January 5, 2014. She was born to the late H.K. and Ruby Hardee Couch, July 7, 1931, in Silver City, NM. Dee Rae graduated from Silver High School in 1947 and earned a BA (Educ.) and MA (Geography) degrees from Arizona State University
. Dee Rae was a teacher in the Scottsdale Unified School District (Hohokam, Cocopah and Chaparral HS) for many years until her retirement in 1990. Teaching was truly her passion. She was also an active member of her church choir and a member of the Arizona Masterworks Chorale for several years. When Dee Rae was very young she and her good friend Sharon Fry shared a weekly radio program entertaining their listeners with lovely music. Dee Rae is survived by three children: Bill (Martha) Reed, Dee Ann (John) Cason, Kenneth Reed and; three step-children: Cynthia Cunningham, Wes and Joel Bayless. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jay (Julie) Reed, Ryan Reed, Linsey (Bobby) Cumbie, Earl (Jess) Cason, Scott Cason, Aleena (Garrett) Barnhart, Mindy Sulzer Anderson, and 13 great grandchildren. Dee Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bayless, after 43 years of marriage, as well as her son, Robert Scott Reed. Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church, 14403 N. 75th Ave., Peoria, AZ. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird, Peoria, AZ. In lieu of flowers you may choose to make a donation to Spirit of Hope in memory of Dee Rae.
