Donald Matthew Bequette

Donald Matthew Bequette (Matt) passed away unexpectedly on May 26 in Grand Rapids, ND. Matt was a graduate of the University of Denver and also did postgraduate work at the University of Colorado and University of Phoenix and held several professional certifications including those of paralegal and contract administration.
Matt was a returned Peace Corps volunteer, serving both in Nepal and Jordan. He also served several engagements with the USAID in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Matt was fluent in Arabic, both Levantine and colloquial, and in addition to other duties, taught English as a second language to locals. He held a security clearance with the Department of Defense and had worked for the DOI Bureau of Indian Affairs, DOD, FEMA, GSA as well as the US Agency for International Development.
Matt was an accomplished bicyclist and rock climber in his earlier years and had traveled extensively in these pursuits.
He is survived by his father, Richard B. Bequette (Jeri), his mother, Sue Ellen Armand (Tom), his sister Theresa Reavis (Jim) and brother Bruce P. Bequette (Brenda) and maternal grandmother Florence Manghelli as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and nephews.
A private memorial service was held in Grand Rapids, ND on June 2, 2012 for immediate family and close friends in the area and his ashes will be interred there to rest at a location he loved and to be with his close friend, Julie Haberman and her family.
