McKinney, Douglas R. "Buck"
62, of Springerville, passed away on February 18, 2013. A native Arizonan, Buck was born in Florence. He attended Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in Ag Business. He went on to a career in the Forest Service's Southwestern Region, working on the Tonto, Apache/Sitgreaves, and Gila National Forests as a Range Conservationist. Buck retired in 2006 and began living his dream of full-time competitive roping. He is survived by his sister Sharon McKinney Hopkins and cousin Patty Dodd, and his horse Blaze. Two services will be held for friends to celebrate his life: Saturday, March 9 at 2:30 PM at the Jesus First Baptist Community Church, at 138 N. Highway 180 in Eagar; and Sunday, March 10 at 1 PM, a wake will be held at the Rode Inn in Springerville, at 242 E. Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1789 W. Commerce Drive Lakeside, AZ 85929. Burnham Mortuary, Eagar, handled the arrangements.
