Edward George Dana, 89, passed away in Gilbert, Arizona on February 2, 2013 with family by his side. Edward was born on August 8, 1923 to Mabel Gibbons and Hyrum Dana. He married the love of his life, Noveda Elizabeth Smith on November 23, 1946. Edward is survived by his five children: Janice Ehrlich (Glenn), Jeanie Hamblen (Gary), Kathy Lenz (Dorian), Phillip Dana, Edward Dana II; 14 grand children and 18 great grand children. During WWII, Edward served with the 8th Air Force, at the Deenethorpe airbase in England. Coming home from an assigned mission on January 10, 1945, his B-17 crew crashed in a field near Grimbergen, Belgium. In 2007, Edward was honored for his service by the People of Grimbergen, with members of the Belgian Air Force, and the American Embassy in attendance. Edward retired after working 45 years for the Rainbow Bakery as a transport driver. Edward, a life-long member of the LDS church residing in the Centennial Ward area in Queen Creek, served in various calling throughout his lifetime. He and Noveda worked as missionaries at the Family History Center for many years, but their favorite calling was working with the 3 year old Sunbeams in their latter years. Friends may visit on Friday, February 8th from 7 to 9:00 PM at the LDS Centennial Ward -26023 S. Lemon Ave., Queen Creek, AZ. Services will be held on Saturday, February 9th at the LDS Centennial Ward - 10:00 AM with a viewing at 8:45 AM - "Sugar Lump" will be laid to rest next to his beloved "Doll Face" at Rest Haven Cemetery- 4310 E. Southern Ave. at 2:30 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Meldrum Mortuary.
