Eleanor V. Hull, 89, died peacefully at home with family members at her side on Sunday, July 28th, 2013. She was born Eleanor Virginia Lare to Lawrence and Bertha Messenger Lare on October 12th, 1923 in rural Ohio. At the age of four, she and her two oldest brothers entered the Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphans' Home upon the death of their father. When she was eight years old, she was adopted by Alpha and Ethel Warren Van Fossan and raised as an only child in Springfield, OH. She attended Ohio State University, and earned a BA in Foreign Languages. While there, she met the love of her life, Hugh, and they married soon after graduating. They moved to Arizona for two years, and then returned to Ohio to start a family. In 1959, they moved to Arizona permanently and settled in the Arcadia area. Eleanor enjoyed volunteering, traveling, classical concerts, and baking. She was well known for her wonderful chocolate chip cookies, with which she was very generous. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 68 years Hugh B. Hull, children Margaret, Hugh W. "Bill", John, and Maryann, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Katie, Christina, and Connor.
