Gail Olson

Olson, Gail
Glendale, AZ - Gail (Levy) Olson born June 12, 1920 to Malcolm and Grace Levy in Evanston, Illinois went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on February 14, 2013, after battling cancer. Gail had an unwavering faith in God and in the past years she attended Apollo Baptist Church, both regular services and bible study, right up until her failing health. We rejoice in the knowledge that she has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served. A long-time resident of Glendale and recently resided at the Lake Shore Crest Group Home. Gail retired from the General Services Department, City of Glendale, where she worked as an administrative secretary for many years. During her years with the City of Glendale, she was the President of the Glendale Business and Professional Woman's Club and President of the Historical Society of Glendale. Gail also represented the Glendale Sister City Program by traveling to the West German city of Memmington, Glendale's sister city, in 1980. Preceded in death by her husband Verner Olson, sister Jessie Levy and brother Robert Levy. Gail is survived by two sons Paul Olson (Donna) of California and Charles Olson of Arizona; two granddaughters Nicole Olson and Lindsay Olson and one great-grandson Kaden of Tennessee; a grandson Ryan Olson of Arizona; and two nieces, Diane Buckner (John) of Utah and Vivian Levy of New Mexico. Special thanks to friend and caregiver Barbara Tropiano who helped her through her battle. At the family's request, no official services will be held, but a memorial segment will be given on March 3, 2013 during the regular Sunday church service of the Apollo Baptist Church, 11611 N 51st Ave, Glendale, AZ at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to in her name.
