70, of Gilbert, AZ passed away on September 30, 2012. Born on January 1, 1942 in Madison, Wisconsin to George Kroncke, Jr. and Jane Louise Ashcraft Kroncke. University of Wisconsin Madison, BS in Engineering Mechanics in 1964, awarded Distinguished USAF Cadet, MS in Engineering Mechanics in 1966, PHD in Astro/Aero-nautical Engineering in 1973. Lettered four years in crew. Retired, Air Force, Lt-Colonel in 1982. Professor of Astronautics and Computer Science at USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, CO. Also worked for Martin Marrietta, ACS, Ball Aerospace, and Motorola. Was very involved in sports and outdoor activities.
He is survived by fiancee Jan Hendrix, Phoenix, Arizona; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Laura Kroncke, Del Mar, California; son Erik Kroncke, Waterbury Center, Vermont; Grandson Jonathan Smith, Del Mar, California; and Granddaughter Katje Kroncke-Wisdom Waterbury Center/South Burlington, Vermont; Siblings Jane Ann Feldman, Seattle, Washington; Gretchen Marie Kroncke, Madison, Wisconsin; and Fredrick Roland Kroncke, Madison, Wisconsin. Memorial service: December 7th, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3598 Talbot Street, San Diego, CA, at 9am followed by a formal columbarium service with honors at Fort Rosecrans cemetery, at 10:30am on the 7th of December. Family requests a donation to the American Diabetes Foundation in his memory.
