Herman Adams passed away October 25, 2010 in Arizona at the age of 77. Herman was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 18, 1932, the twelfth of thirteen children, to parents Susie Bell-Adams and Samuel Adams of Mobile, Alabama. He married the love of his life, Della Ruby Guillory of Elton, Louisiana on October 5, 1952 and spent the next 53 years by her side. Herman spent his life in public service. Herman entered the Air Force in 1950 and served his country for 26 years. He serverd as an Airborne Radio Operator, Electronic Countermeasures School and airborne Gunner. He flew a total of two hundred and forty three Combat Missions over North Vietnam. Herman cross-trained into the Open Mess Career Field in 1971, and retired in 1976. During his years of service he was awarded five Air Medals, Combat Crewmember aboard B-29s, B-36s, B-47s and B-52s. After retiring from the Air Force, Herman spent 15 years working in the federal civil service managing the consolidated clubs at Travis AFB, Mather AFB, Sondrestrom AB and Thule AB Greenland. He spent five years working for the state of California. Herman was an avid golfer, taking up the sport in the 1950's. He wrote several manuscripts and published his first novel, Deceptive Rogue, in 2008. He was a devoted husband and father who dotted on his wife and children. Herman is survived by a son Charles, daughter-in-law Melinda (Herndon, VA), two daughters, Anastasia and Yolanda (Gainesville, VA), a sister-in-law Dorothy (Sacramento, CA), 3 grandchildren, Charles II, John and James (Herndon, VA), numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and good friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Della, son Herman, Adams Jr., his parents and siblings. Those that knew and met Herman, described him as the most kind and giving man they ever met who always had something good to say and never missed an opportunity to help someone when he could. He will be very deeply missed. A visitation will be held on November 2, 2010 between 1- 3 P.M. at Sunland Memorial Park & Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held on November 8, 2010 at 10 A.M. at Mount Vernon Mortuary and Cemetery 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California, with a visitation on November 7, 2010 between 5 - 7 P.M.
