Schwartz, Hugh Walter, 89, of Sun City, AZ died peacefully at Grandview Hospice on August 21, 2013. Hugh was born in Odessa, Washington on December 24, 1923. He joined the Navy in 1942, served honorably and was discharged in October of 1945 as an AS. In August of 1949 he joined the Los Angeles Fire Department and retired as Chief at Universal Studios in 1979. In 1980 he moved with his wife Fay to Sun City, AZ, the city of volunteers and that he did. He drove "Meals on Wheels" for the Red Cross for over 25 years and donated over 200 pints of blood. He loved his family, his friends and all of God's creatures making sure everyone he knew were taken care of. Hugh spent the last 7 years of his life at the Freedom Inn located in Sun City West, with his family close by and the loving care of those at the Freedom Inn. He is preceded in death by his wife Fay; daughter Kathy and all of his 5 brothers and sister. Hugh is survived by his two grandchildren, Kristin Brown and Barbi Pyle; stepdaughter; Barbara O'Keefe and his two nieces, Linda Herington and Barbara Darling. Donations may be made in his name to Grandview Hospice. Hugh will be cremated and his burial will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Hugh touched the hearts and lives of many people. He will be missed but never forgotten.
