Lowell, Irving (Locascio)
born 6/27/1929, beloved husband and life partner of Joan Lowell, died on April 14, 2013, of lung cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Diana and Joe Locascio, Irving married Joan Patchen in 1953 and they moved to Dix Hills, Long Island to raise their three daughters. In 1978 Irving and Joan moved to the Phoenix area where Irving owned Supermat Systems and their many adventures began. In 1994 they joined the Peace Corps and worked in Kazakhstan. In subsequent years they traveled the world to work on public policy, business development and organization development. Irving had no acquaintances; he was a friend to all, curious and interested, warm and generous. Known for his humor and sense of joy he embraced learning and doing. Devoted to his family, his spirit and values live on in his daughters, Fran Lowell (Jeff Mittelmark), Denise Lowell-Britt (Bill Lowell-Britt), Susan Colin (Craig Colin); grandchildren Drew and Amy Lowell-Britt, Kate Colin, Jacob and Danny Delott. He will be missed by his brother, Frank Locascio, and nieces and nephews David Patchen, Ronni Appel, Mark Locascio, Stuart Locascio, Elyse Linn, Jill Locascio, Jessica Okon, Deborah Hockstra, and friends around the world.
