Francis, Jack Lloyd
93, recently of Chandler, AZ (3 yrs), formerly of Sun Lakes, AZ (25 years), passed away quietly on the evening of March 18, 2014 while under the care of Hospice of the Valley. Jack was born on July 4, 1920 in Turney, TX to parents Hamil Ananias Francis & Winifred Grace Francis. He is preceeded in death by his three wives: Emilie Bradasich, Frances Broughton and Bobbie Salyer. He is survived by his sister Louise Odom of Fort Walton Beach, FL, several nieces and nephews, and step-children Mary Zapponi of Truckee, CA, Melissa Dufrene of Houston, TX, and Raleigh Salyer of Houston, TX. Jack had a 23 year career in the United States Air Force (1944 to 1967) as an aircraft mechanic and maintenance supervisor with assignments in Texas, California, Alaska and Greenland. He subsequently worked another 20 years at the Mare Island Naval Base in California as a civilian electrical technician working on nuclear submarines. Jack was active in several service organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Marines Memorial Club, Disabled American Veterans, Free & Accepted Masons of California, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, El Zaribah Shriner Temple, and the Sun Lakes Shrine Club. He was an avid golfer and could still be found weekly on the links at 88 years of age. Internment of his ashes will be with full military and Masonic honors in the Houston National Cemetary at a date to be determined.
