Joanne (Ruch) Griner, 80 of Glendale, AZ, passed away on September 13, 2013. She never lost her smile, love of life, and enjoyed every visit from friends and family. Joanne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold Griner. Joanne was a native of Arizona and was born in Phoenix on April 11, 1933. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School and continued her education receiving a BS degree from Arizona State University
in 1953. Joanne was a member of the Chi Omega sorority as well as the ASU Alumni Association and remained active in those organizations for most of her life. Joanne had a long career as a Medical Technologist. She worked for
St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix the first part of her career and spent the last 20 years of her career at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Joanne had many interests and participated in many activities including travel, hiking, crafts, bridge, philanthropy, and spirituality. In addition to her educational affiliations, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glendale, PEO, Glendale Civic Pride, the Glendale Historical Society, and the Arizona Gourd Society. In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by daughter Anne Griner Parkhurst, son Phil Griner, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held 11am September 28th at the First United Methodist Church of Glendale located at 7102 N 58th Dr. Glendale, AZ 85301.
