Kathleen (Kathy to friends, and Kie to family) Davis passed away in Glendale, AZ early the morning of the 3rd of February at the age of 92. This is an end of a most remarkable era as Kie had been the last surviving sibling out of 13 brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her parents Rol & Goldie (Clark) Cooper; with Mom Goldie passing on in 1955. Kie's siblings were Exie, Harlan, Marshall, Eva (Peg), Ivan, James (Jim), Irene (Ide), Louis (Lou), Lois (Acie), Kenneth (Rube), Keith (Sig), and Charles (Gene). Kathleen was married to Floyd H. Davis in 1945 after his return from service in a Japanese POW camp for over 4 years during World War II. Floyd preceded her in death in July of 1995. Their three children survive Kathleen: Becky, Danny, and Richard and daughters-in-law Donna (Dan), and Laura (Richard). Grandma will be missed by her grandchildren Tony (Kansas City), Shea & Shara (Springfield, MO), Darrin (Colorado Springs, CO), Zach (Glendale), Amanda (Newark, NJ), Drew, & D'Anna (Glendale). Great-grandma will also be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren; Heather (Shea), Tanner & Taylor (Tony), and Dylan & Teagan (Darrin & Donna Marie). Kathleen was born along with her twin sister Irene on December 8th, 1920. They were born on their parents' farm in Hendricks County, Indiana. Not liking their given names of Cora Kathleen and Dora Irene, each chose to use their middle names and nicknames for their "real" names all their lives. Kie loved growing up in the country with all of her siblings and reminisced often about their youth. When Becky was only 6 years old, Floyd and Kathleen relocated to the metro Phoenix area in 1953. During her life Kathy held various jobs while still trying to raise her 3 children as a stay-at-home Mom. In 1978 she took a full time position working for Cortez High School managing the school's girls athletic equipment and facilities. She loved this job, the coaches, administrators, and co-workers there, but most of all she loved caring for the student-athletes of the Colts. She worked in this position for over 18 years until her retirement in 1997. A visitation with the family is being held at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Av. Glendale, from 1pm to 1:30pm. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 1:30pm. No graveside service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feed Our Starving Children in care of Kathleen Davis at 7965 S. Priest Dr. #106, Tempe, AZ 85284.
