Larry DeCelles, age 92, left us on April 4, 2014. He loved Arizona and made it his home in 1985. Larry served in the Army
Air Corp in WWII
, flew as a TWA pilot for 35 years, retired in Kansas City in 1981, and eventually made his way to AZ. Larry's life was rooted in a strong Catholic faith that guided him always. He loved his family unconditionally, and was forever loyal to his many friends. Love and relationships were his treasures. During his TWA years Larry worked tirelessly to improve air safety and was active in accident investigations, once clearing the name of a pilot wrongfully judged to have deliberately crashed his plane. Larry wrote his autobiography on a DOS computer, and loudly cheered the arrival of Windows. Retirement years finally gave Larry the opportunity to indulge his love of golf, and he cherished every moment on the links. Routinely he would stand holding a thermos of hot cocoa in an outdoor line at 5AM waiting to sign up for the next week's tee time. Pre-deceased by his first wife, he is survived by 6 children,
17 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Larry and his wife Janet have enjoyed the past 21 years together in their beloved AZ. Private services are scheduled. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
