Duran, Lawrence H.
August 6th 1931 - April 8th 2014. Larry was born August 6th 1931 to parents Erlinda and Joseph in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was raised with brothers Victor and Johnny and sister Aureala. Larry was a star high school football player and later worked at the Broadmoor Hotel where he found his life's vocation, cooking. Larry became a renowned chef in the Colorado Springs area, working at various restaurants and that is where he met the love of his life, Jackie. Larry and Jackie were married on New Years Eve 1952 and raised four loving children, Michael, Patrick, Debbie, and Stephen. The family moved from Colorado to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1973 where Larry and Jackie opened a franchise restaurant, Village Inn Pancake House. Over the years Larry was the friendly face (Mr. "D") greeting his guest at the Village Inn, he touched many lives there, customers and employees alike. Larry is survived by wife Jackie, sons Michael (Barbie), Patrick (Melanie), and Stephen (Melissa), Daughter Debbie Fanning (Ace), grandchildren Kristin, Stacey, Stevie, Jenna, Danielle, Andrea, Victoria, Chelsea, Ace Jr. and 11 Great grandchildren. Larry, Dad, Pa will be greatly missed. Viewing will be held 10:00 AM and a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Monday April 14th, 2014 at Messinger Mortuary 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251. There will be a reception immediately following services at the same location.
