Westling, Linda Beard
54, of Beaverton, Ore. passed away on September 25, 2013 of breast cancer
. She was born in Boston on April 22, 1959 and lived as a child in Orlando, Fla., Syracuse, N.Y. and Phoenix. She attended Northern Arizona University where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, graduating in 1981 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation from college and her marriage to Joe, she worked in the Phoenix area before moving to Beaverton, in the Portland, Ore. area, in 1987. In the Portland area, she worked for Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Enron Broadband and the Beaverton School District. She was an accomplished figure skater, winning the Pacific Coast Championships in ice dancing as a teenager. After she retired from competition, she became a figure skating judge, judging many regional and sectional competitions along the Pacific Coast. As her boys became involved in sports and youth music, she became an avid supporter and volunteer, keeping score for lacrosse in the cold and rain, cheering hockey in frigid ice rinks and track in warm stadiums and chaperoning youth orchestra tours. She was a strong, loving presence in the lives of all the members of her family. She was truly loved by all whom she met in life. She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Westling of Beaverton; sons Andrew and Daniel; daughter-in-law Jordan of Beaverton; parents, Albert and Patricia Beard of Lake Oswego, Ore. and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pearl and Stanley Westling of Flagstaff, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy, in 1981. Arrangements are pending. Details will be posted at www.springerandson.com
