65, of Phoenix, AZ went to heaven on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born to the late Leonard Leon and Edna Faye Duty Hopkins on May 7, 1948, in Anna, Il. Marsha graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1966, received her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Sociology and Family studies from Southern Illinois University and was ABD for her doctoral degree in Higher and Adult Education from Arizona State University. Marsha married Michael Widdows in 1968, and they relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1972. She was a professor of Sociology and Child and Family Studies, and did extensive work in course development and institutional strategic planning at Phoenix College for more than 30 years until she retired in 2012. With a brilliant mind and curious nature, she was versed on just about any topic from home keeping to quantum physics. She had a huge heart, loved her family dearly and was an amazing "Nana" to Colby, Christian, Jenny, and Marielle. She loved traveling, and took numerous trips worldwide with her partner Harry Vesely, of Phoenix, who spent years at her side before and throughout her illness. Marsha is survived by two children, Matt (Colleen) Widdows, of Phoenix, AZ and Amy (Eric) Widdows Moessinger, of Pacifica, CA. In addition to her 4 grandchildren and partner, she is also survived by two sisters, Debbie (Alex) Heidari of St Paul, MO; Jane Glaab of Cape Girardeau, MO; brother-in-law, Jeff Hayden of Anna, IL; nephews, Ben and Dan Heidari of St Paul, MO; and nieces, Sarah (Zach) Morris of St Charles, MO; Jenny and Rachel Hayden of Anna, IL. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Edna Faye Hopkins; sister Doris Hayden and nephews Adam Heidari and Timothy Hayden. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a cancer fund of choice. The family will hold a public memorial in Phoenix, AZ on April 26 as well as a private creekside service at one of Marsha's favorite places in Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona, AZ.
