Ketola, Melba Helen
born September 7, 1934 passed away peacefully on January 22, 2012. Melba Leppanen grew up in Bruce Crossing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where she met and married her former husband Ralph Ketola. She spent her years as a homemaker raising her three sons and managing the family's homes in Lansing and Mason, Michigan before moving south to Sun City, Arizona in the late 1990's. Melba loved dancing, bowling and golf and devoted herself to her lifelong vocation as mother and grandmother. Melba was an effective and strong advocate for her son Brian, and she succeeded in her determination that Down's Syndrome would not limit his opportunities in life. We will always remember her love, her laughter and her warm heart. Melba is preceded in death by her son Michael, and survived by her sons Bruce (wife Kimberly) and Brian, grandchildren Jason and Emily Ketola, Sam Weaver (wife Krystle) and Addie Weaver, and her sister Norma Laine and many nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be at Best Funeral Services, 9380 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345 on Jan 27 from 2pm-4pm and the Celebration of Life Service will be held on Jan 28 at 1030am at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, 11025 North 111th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351 with a light lunch following the service.
