Robert (Bob) Blashek, 90, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2013. Bob was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University
where he was a Cheer Leader and a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. Prior to graduating from OSU he served in World War II
as a Staff Sargent in the 34th Division. After graduation his career took him to opposite parts of the country; Palm Springs, CA where he was General Manager of KCMJ Radio Station and New York City, NY. While in NYC he was actively involved in the new field of incentive marketing, sweepstakes planning and management. Bob worked as an account executive for the E. F. MacDonald Company, Executive Vice President of the D. L. Blair Corporation, and Chairman/CEO of Ventura Associates International, Inc. Volunteerism was primary to Bob's outgoing and creative nature. In Palm Springs he founded the Palm Springs Press Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Palm Springs Boys Club. Living in Greenwich, CT he served on the Greenwich Jewish Community Services Board of Directors. Working in NYC he was a member of the OSU's Development Fund steering committee and the Alumni Council Board for OSU's College of Business. In 1989 he retired to Scottsdale and devoted his time to work for the Phoenix Direct Marketing Club and was a Board member and counselor of SCORE, the Service Corp of Retired Executives Association. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara, son Rob (Carolyn) Encino CA, daughter Jill Yanuzzi (Joey) Philadelphia PA, sister Margie Baer Boca Raton FL, step-sons Larry Kahn (Lynn) Paradise Valley, Kenny Kahn (Caren) Santa Fe NM, Ralph Kahn (Joni) Indianapolis IN, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Betsy Holland Shiner. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
