Fogwell, Robert H.
Robert H. Fogwell passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. A resident of Scottsdale, AZ for the past 19 years, he previously resided in Pasadena, CA for over 45 years. Born October 22, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Harrison H. and Lulu Healy Fogwell. He is survived by his adoring family, wife Helen of 67 years, daughters Kathy Caldwell Shelden (Geoffrey) of Pacific Palisades, CA, Laura F. Majovski (Lawrence) of Gig Harbor, WA, and Margaret J. Watson (Clarke) of Scottsdale, AZ.; grandchildren William M. Caldwell V (Lauren), Blake H. Caldwell, Tyler R. Caldwell, Karen L. Majovski, Gregory L. Majovski, Christopher W. Watson; and great granddaughter, Kimball E. Caldwell. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy F. Finch, brother-in-law Leonard J. Finch and granddaughter, Lindsay A. Majovski.
He attended Los Angeles High School and the University of Southern California, graduating from USC in 1943 with a BE (Mechanical) and earning a second BE (Electrical) in 1947. He attended Naval Training School at Cornell University, prior to entering WWII
in December of 1943. He served aboard the USS Appalachian in three major assaults in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged as Lt. (jg), USNR.
He married the love of his life, Helen Taylor on January 9, 1946 and established their family in Pasadena. In addition to being devoted, loving parents, he and Helen were avid golfers, enjoying years of friendships through their memberships at San Gabriel CC, Pauma Valley CC and the Boulders CC (AZ). He and Helen were also dedicated bridge players and organized and enjoyed bridge groups throughout their many years together. He was a member of Kiwanis, as well as the Kappa Alpha fraternity at USC and stayed active with the KA Investment Club for decades.
He founded Crown Engineering in Los Angeles, later known at Crown Berkeley Engineering and worked in the aerospace subcontracting business for many years. He retired from Page-Fogwell in 1986.
He will be remembered fondly as a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, with a wry sense of humor and a generous heart.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Cabot & Sons in Pasadena and internment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cabot & Sons on Friday, February 22nd at 11:00 am and at Vi at Grayhawk on Saturrday, March 2 at 2:30 pm in Scottsdale AZ.
