Mason, Robert "Bob" P. Jr.
peacefully passed away on August 17, 2013 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Bob was born on May 10, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN and was the older of two sons of Dr. Robert P., Sr. and Doris E. Mason. Bob moved with his family to Iowa at a young age, where he spent most of his childhood, before they finally settled in Phoenix AZ in 1959. After graduating high school in 1961, Bob became a posse member of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and remained active in the reserves for most of his adult life. Bob graduated at the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Arizona State University
, earning him membership in the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and work in this capacity throughout his almost 50-year career. Bob was an extremely hard worker and took great pride in doing a great job at all he did, but his passions were traveling, skiing, and hanging out with friends. Any day that involved good friends, good food, and a nice bottle of wine were good days in his book! While most who knew Bob would describe him a strong, vivacious, and adventurous individual, Bob suffered from Type I diabetes and it was complications of the disease that ultimately took his life. He will always be remembered as an extremely intelligent man with a quick wit - he had a joke ready for every situation - and would be there in a heartbeat for anyone in need. If you needed a shirt, he would give you the shirt off his back, even if it were his last. Bob had a huge heart. His love for his family and friends was endless and unconditional. He will live on through memories and the feeling that he is watching from above. Bob is survived by his mother, Doris E. Mason; nieces, Jayme Mason and Jodi Mason-Starr; and step-daughter Abbey Jenkins, whom he loved and cherished as his own. His father, Dr. Robert P. Mason Sr., and brother, William "Bill" H. Mason, precede Bob in death. A small memorial will be held in Sedona, AZ on October 5, 2013 per his wishes. Donations can be made in memory of Robert P.
