Yonker, Robert S. "Bob"
69, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on August 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Louis and Helen Frances Yonker and his sister, Jane Yonker. Bob is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janet L. Yonker, his children Bobby and Katie of Phoenix, AZ, sister Sally (Dick) Fitzgerald of Carbondale, CO, brother Bill (Renee) of St. Louis, MO, brothers-in-law Mark (Nancy) Wendel of Cave Creek, AZ and Dan Wendel of St. Louis, MO and seven nieces and nephews. Bob was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1976. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Missouri and earned a Master's degree in English. He worked as a juvenile probation officer for over 30 years and retired from the Maricopa County Juvenile Court in 2004. Bob was not only a devoted husband, father and brother, but a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and a true friend. He was part of a unique group of men who maintained close childhood friendships throughout his life, attending every annual "Witchner Golf Tournament" in Missouri each June since 1975. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Tee of Phoenix, 9510 S. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85042. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Maryland Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015.
