Howard, Robert Wesley Jr
Robert Wesley Howard, Jr. of Mesa, Arizona passed on September 9, 2013 at 7:25 AM due to complications of prostate and bone cancer. Robert was a raconteur, bicycler extraordinaire, sharpshooter, skier of the Rocky Mountain and Cascade ranges, boater of Puget Sound; and retired in 1989 as a Captain of DC-8's from United Air Lines after 41 years of service. He was also proud of his service with the U.S. Navy
as a First Class Aviation Machinist Mate, flying 73 combat missions in the Korean War and receiving numerous Distinguished Service medals. Born May 12, 1929 in Wilmar, California, Robert was raised in McDonald, Kansas, moved to Denver as a teen, where he was a member of the Colorado National Guard, and joined the Navy to see the ocean. A widower, Robert is survived by his children, Terry Howard Heller of Los Angeles, and Michael William Howard of Tacoma, Washington and his grandchildren, Evan and Duncan Howard, and Katherine and Joseph Heller. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Nichol Reigelman, Kim
