Abshire, Ruth E. (Thomas)
90, Phoenix, AZ passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born September 15, 1923, in Newton Township, Erie, IL, to Wayne and Ella Thomas. She was the third of nine siblings. In 1961, she came to Phoenix with her three children, Barbara (Parker) McCaughey and Larry and Terry Parker. She worked for GE/Honeywell. After retiring she traveled and volunteered at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. She liked to garden, participate in church activities, and luncheons with friends. She loved people and doing for others. She loved her grandchildren, Gayla, Christy, Todd, Tricia and Leslie, and her 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Jack Abshire, son, Larry Parker, companion, Fran Winschel, a brother and a sister. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara, Phoenix, and her son, Terry (Fay), Avondale, AZ. Also surviving are sisters, Dorothea Daw, Beverly Frohling, Eula Seger, and brothers, Bill, Jim and Paul Thomas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Freeway Baptist Church, 8501 N. Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85021 - Children's Summer Camp Program and Bible Study. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, at Freeway Baptist Church.
