Setsuko Herron, 81, a resident of the Cornelius community, died Tuesday morning, January 29, 2013 at her home. Setsuko Herron was born on March 25, 1931 in Oishi, Fukuoka-ken, Japan, the daughter of the late Kanemon and Fujino Ichikawa. She was raised in Oishi where she received her education. She later went to nursing and midwife school in Fukuoka City, Japan. Setsuko was united in marriage to Paul C. Herron on March 29, 1970 in Fukuoka City, Japan. Following their marriage they resided in Phoenix, Arizona for sometime before moving to Glendale, Arizona. Paul and Setsuko lived in Glendale until 2003 when they moved to Cornelius, Oregon and have resided there since. Setsuko was a nurse and midwife at a medical clinic in Fukuoka City prior to moving the United States and becoming an American citizen. Among her special interest, Setsuko enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kanemon and Fujino Ichikawa; and her siblings, Masako, Toshie, Tsuruyo, and Tetsunosuke. Setsuko is survived by her husband, Paul Herron of Cornelius, Oregon; and her siblings, Sumako, Teruko, Mitsuko and Kuniaki, residents of Japan.
