Shirley (Shelly) Kort Danehey passed away on May 17th in Fountain Hills, Arizona after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born on November 13, 1935 in Hastings, Nebraska. She was the only child of the late Frances and Irvin Kort. She grew up on the family farm and attended Hastings College. She met her future husband, Delain (Dan) Danehey in 1955. They were married in 1959 while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force in Dover, Delaware. They moved to the Chicago area in 1960 and Dan resumed his career with Ernst & Young. They primarily lived in Arlington Heights. Dan retired in 1991 and Shelly and Dan moved to Fountain Hills in 1994. Shelly was skilled in personal relationships, cooking, sewing and gardening. She is survived by her loving husband, daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Dr. Jim Eichman, of Kalamazoo, Michigan and son, David, of Mesa, Arizona. Other survivors include grandchildren Jack, Gillian, Elise and Aidan Eichman. Shelly deeply loved and was very proud of her children, son-in-law, and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas on the Desert in Scottdale, AZ. at 10:00am Tues. May 28. Memorials may be made to , 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85014 (www.hov.org).
