Sid C. Brown of Mesa, Arizona passed away on January 9, 2013 at the age of 89. He was born April 13, 1923 in Amalga, Cache County, Utah. His loving wife of 68 years Darlene Brown passed away just 25 days earlier on December 15, 2012. Sid is survived by his daughter: Carnan Kay Billings of Tooele, Utah; son: Mark C. Brown of Mesa, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and sister: Marian Rockwood Borg of Salt Lake City, Utah. Sid spent most of his early years in Amalga, Utah; Twin Falls, Idaho; Missoula, Montana; Clarksburg, California and Nyssa, Oregon; graduating from Nyssa High School in May of 1941 along with Darlene. Following graduation he enrolled at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. His studies were interrupted by the war and he enlisted in the Army Air Force in November of 1942 and reported for active duty and flight training in February of 1943. Sid flew the P-38 Lightning Aircraft in the 26th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron stationed in the South Pacific during the war. Sid and Darlene Dorman were married on June 1, 1944 while he was home on leave. After the war Sid returned to school at the University of Idaho where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in May of 1948. Sid began his career with Westinghouse Electric Company in June of 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was transferred to Portland, Oregon office in 1949. Both of his children were born while they lived in Portland. In 1963 the family moved to Spokane, Washington when Sid was transferred to the Spokane office of Westinghouse and they moved to Bellevue, Washington in 1970 when Sid was transferred to the Seattle office. Sid retired in 1987, they moved to Gold Canyon, Arizona in 1993 and then to Mesa, Arizona in May of 2009. Sid enjoyed hunting, fishing & golf and was very involved in church activities. He was a generous, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM January 17, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, located at 1430 N. Recker Rd. in Mesa, Arizona 85215.
