Kanther, Simona Powers
Born on August 17, 1949 to Irene Rose Powers and Willard Ripley Powers in Phoenix, Arizona and passed away on October 3, 2012 in Phoenix. Mona grew up in a close-knit family with four sisters and four brothers. She later moved to Dallas where she met her husband, William Patrick Kanther. Mona and Bill were infamous for hosting elaborate parties that included quirky surprises such as mariachi bands, piano players and her signature festive fare. In 1986 they welcomed their daughter, Brooke Powers Kanther, who was the light of their life.

With her sister Laura Robbins and niece Jenny Correa, Mona co-owned and operated the popular boutique The Impeccable Pig with six locations across the state of Texas.

Mona will be remembered for her hospitality, deep faith, determination and passionate spirit.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Brooke, and preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her mother, Irene; her father, Rip; and her brother, Stephen. She is also survived by sisters, Laura Robbins, Ann Powers, Carmelita Tucker and Mary Dominguez; brothers Andrew, Guy and Matthew; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who counted it a privilege to know and love Mona.

Funeral mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2012 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2038 W. Van Buren Street.
