Tyler, Theodore C.
of Scottsdale, AZ. passed away on July 23, 2014 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Catherine L. Jones, Aurora, CO and Linda A. Houser, Denver, CO and two grandchildren Natalie and Ryan Moler, Aurora, CO. He was born to Clarence and Salymea Tylicki on August 5, 1931 in Cleveland, OH and married his wife Mary in 1953. Ted earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan
in Ann Arbor in 1956 and was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Michigan in 1958. Ted worked for Western Electric/AT&T Technologies/Lucent Technologies for 30 years retiring in a senior management position. He was an active member of his community and held a number of positions including chairperson of the Workshop in Business Opportunities Program in Harlem and a member of the Advisory Board of Columbia University Graduate School of Business. In San Francisco Ted served as Vice
Chairman of the United Way Drive for the East Bay. In Columbus, he was Vice
Chairman of the United Negro College Fund Drive and was on the Board of Directors for the Symphony Orchestra. In Allentown, he was on the Board of Directors of the Art Museum and Chairman of the United Negro College Fund Drive for Eastern Pennsylvania. Since moving to Scottsdale in 1998, Ted served as a volunteer tour guide at the Mayo Clinic Hospital and volunteer chairperson for workforce development for the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a commissioner on the Scottsdale Human Relations Commission, chair of GateWay Early College High School Advisory Council, a board member of AZCIV and a board member of Arizona Lifelong Fitness Foundation. He was also a board member of the Arizona Educational Foundation, on the Arizona Mature Workers Committee and the Scottsdale Life Ventures Planning Committee. Ted was a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership, Class XVI and received the 2006 Frank W. Hodges Alumni Achievement Award.
