longtime Scottsdale attorney died February 10, 2013. He was 76 Years old. Tom was born on December 4, 1936 in Selfridge, North Dakota. He graduated from high school in Selfridge and earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. After graduating from UND in 1964, Mr. Lauinger worked in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a bank examiner where he met Judy, his devoted wife of 47 years. In 1965 he established his initial law practice in Napoleon, North Dakota where he worked for three years. During this time he also served in the U.S. Army reserves. In 1969 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He established residence, passed the Arizona bar exam, and opened a law office in Scottsdale, where he practiced law for 29 years. In 1981, Mr. Lauinger purchased Mary Moppets Day Care, Inc., operating child day care centers in Arizona & multiple south western states. Tom was an active parishioner in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Phoenix where he served on the parish council and finance committee. He was a member of the Scottsdale Kiwanis Club. His favorite activities included jogging, hiking, reading, and traveling. Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Judy; son David and his wife Tina and their three children Kahla, Nicole, and Jack of Scottsdale; son Michael and his wife Tara and their two children Faith and John of Scottsdale; his grand daughter Blake and her two children Eligh and Aubree of Phoenix who survived Paul Lauinger, Tom's son, who preceded him in death on March 2, 2007. One brother, Richard of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and two sisters, Sharon of Sarasota, Florida and Judy of Venice, Florida also survived him. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 84th Street, Scottsdale, with a reception immediately following in Fenlon Hall.
