Valois Anthony "Val" Witte

Witte, Valois (Val) Anthony
Valois Witte left us on Dec. 8, 2013. He was born on Aug. 20th, 1930 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Anyone who met Val knew that he was a unique, mischievous, smart character. These traits were not lost on Jane Ohara, they fell in love and married on June 16th 1951. He served proudly in the US Army earning an Air Service Commendation, 3 Bronze Stars with Valor and a Purple Heart during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring in 1970 to Phx. with the rank of 1st Sergeant. He spoke several languages including Japanese, & Turkish. After retiring from the Army, Val earned a Degree while working full time. He enjoyed golf, movies, listening to music and reading, Hobbies that he passed on to both his children. He loved dogs and did volunteer work with the A.H.S. Val defied the stereotypes of most of his generation, He was excited about technology and was amazed at the things he had seen during his lifetime; advances in medicine, electronics, cars, planes & especially the Internet. He was always looking ahead to what would come next. Loved and will be missed by many, especially his wife of 62 years Jane Witte, his children: Linda (Witte) Morando and John Witte, daughter-in-law Sherry Witte, son-in-law Steve Morando, & their one and only granddaughter Gina Morando. Graveside services with military honors will be held 12/23/13 1 pm at Holy Cross -10045 W Thomas Rd, Avondale.
