W. Jeanne Adams, age 81, passed away 3/16/09 at home under the loving care of her family and Banner Hospice. Jeanne was born 3/18/27 in Bement, Illinois to Willard and Vonola Fairbanks. Her mother died following her brother Robert's birth in 1935. She was then raised by her grandfather James Fairbanks in Bement for several years until Aunt Maude and Uncle Julius Petty in Stevens Point, Wisconsin raised her through high school and 2 years of college. She fell in love with and married her High School Sweetheart on 6/15/50. They began their married life in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. They moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1954, raising their five children there and finally relocating to Tempe, Arizona in the summer of 1970. Jeanne was a wonderful wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, church and school fund raiser, Den Mother, Blue Bird Leader and a mentor to many. She touched many lives in her 30 plus years of volunteering at Desert Samaritan/Banner Desert Hospital. She was honored several times for her volunteering, once by the State of Arizona for the number of hours dedicated to the Hospital and the community. Never one to sit idle, Jeanne enjoyed travel, water skiing, playing Bridge and Bingo, exploring mountain areas, hunting for pretty rocks and working on her daughter's ranch. She loved the Phoenix Suns and animals-especially dogs. Jeanne enjoyed people and would strike up a conversation wherever she went. She worked on family genealogy generating volumes of material on family lines including supporting documents of all kinds. She brought enthusiasm and her own personal spirit to all endeavors. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her husband Milton and her five children; Michael and wife Michelle in Houston, Douglas and wife Candace in Sacramento, Sandy with her horse ranch in Tucson, Linda and husband Steven Healy in Woodland Hills, California., Mark and wife Brenda in Crystal Lake, Illinois and her Grandchildren; Jason, Evan, Danielle, Christopher, and Aubrey Adams. Memorial services will be held at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Avenue, on Saturday, April 4th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Adult Oncology Program at Banner Desert Medical Center through the Banner Foundation, 2025 N. 3rd St, Suite 250, Phoenix, Arizona. 85004 or the .
