Cox, Walter E.
92, of the Verde Valley passed away on March 17, 2013. Born in Flagstaff 6/16/20 one of 9 children born to Lydia and Cleve Cox. A lifelong resident of Arizona Walter returned to the Verde Valley after his service in World War II and worked in the Jerome mine. During that time at a dance Beaver School dance he begin his courtship of Jeanne Dircks, the pretty young lady he would be married to for 56 years until her passing January 6, 2004. A member of Local #428 he worked on road and power plant projects statewide. Lifetime member of Verde Valley Horseman's Council he took pride in his work on area horse trails.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and water ski ing. Walter loved a good practical joke, had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for the ornery twinkle in his eye and his big soft heart. He will be greatly missed by his family, son, Warren Cox (TJ) of San Diego, Janice Wilson (Reid) of Jonesboro,GA, Nola Welsey(Jim) of Cave Creek, AZ and grandchildren Erica Wilson of Brooklyn NY, Victor Wilson of Atlanta, GA and Joshua Salyer of Tempe, AZ . Thank you to Maria Balint and the staff of Fletcher Heights, Luci, Dani, Susie and Bob for their care and love for Walter and to Banner Hospice for their wonderful care. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 6th 1-4pm at Campo de Ensueno 115 Camp Lincoln, Camp Verde, AZ 86322 Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood AZ
